Boo!

Aug 3, 2021New Fabric Line

Nothing wicked this way comes.

Remember Paul Harvey and “the rest of the story?’ The plastic aqua blue dial radio on top of the fridge? Roy Rogers and Dale Evans singing “Happy Trails to You?” Be transported to a less complicated time with the adorable collection “Kitty Corn” ” by Urban Chiks for Moda. If time-traveling really isn’t in your bag of tricks, simply derive pleasure from the playful kittens, cheerful pumpkins, obligatory candy corn, and the soft color palette. This totally unterrifying (all right, there are a few itsy-bitsy spiders) approach to Halloween is rather a sweet treat.

Festive Felines by Vera Charron for Northcott

The polka dots and the stripes are definitely the treats here. But, if you prefer something a little more ornery, the cats appear to be out of the bag in Vera Charron’s “Festive Felines” for Northcott Studio. Their facial expressions say these cats ate the canary, unrolled the toilet paper, and brought the mouse in for your approval. Paired with happy jacks and delightful coordinates, these felines hint at mischievous fun.

Regions BeYone designed by Tim Holtz for Free Spirit

Tim Holtz’s bewitching collection “Regions BeYone” for Free Spirit.

And, if you like scary, nobody does subtle creepy like Tim Holtz for Free Spirit. And in this particular instance, spirit refers to “ReGions BeYone.” What is bewitching about this haunting collection is the way in which the ghostly departed, hemlock, crows, and spells bind together in dark alliance as well as the way in which it mingles with Holtz pieces from previous lives (years).

Spooky Night designed by Beth Albert for 3Wishes

Gotta love those ghostly white trucks…

But the collection that combines both the spooky and fun of Halloween is Beth Albert’s “Spooky Night” for 3Wishes. The juxtaposition of musty purple and spider webs with smiling pumpkins and pick-up trucks captures the essence of October 31st.

For Halloween (and all other occasions), these “Canvas” tone-on-tones are YUMMY!

When it’s all said and done, be sure to appreciate all of the richly hued bolts of fabric in Northcott’s “Canvas.” With names like orange peel, chartreuse, grapevine… they pair with Halloween like witches and broomsticks.

Witches Night Out – a favorite for charmed piecing.

Speaking of witches, the book Witches Night Out by It”s So Emma plots out clever piecing of cauldrons, broomsticks, cats, pumpkins, bats…ALL the ingredients needed for a concoction of Super Natural quilts, placemats, pillows, potholders…..
