Machine Quilting Basics (B)
Learn the art of machine quilting on your domestic machine through this hands-on class. Machine Quilting Basics will cover echo, cross hatching, stitch-in-the-ditch, decorative, and free-motion quilting. Discussion of threads, needles, and layering and basting a quilt top for home-machine quilting will be included in the class. This is a two day class.

Class Dates:

Thursday, March 14th, 2024 from 6-9pm
and Thursday, March 21st, 2024 from 6-9pm

Supply List:

  • Fabric – 2 – 18”x20″ Fat Quarters Solid color (light – white or cream work best) 

  • Batting – 18-20” Square of 100% cotton, 70/30, or 80/20 

  • Thread – Bring 2-3 different dark colored threads you use regularly for quilting. 

  • Bobbins 

  • Sewing machine in good working order (cleaned, oiled, new needle, spool covers) 

  • Machine needles – Topstitch 14 or Machine Quilting 11 & 14 

  • Regular Foot, ¼” Foot, Walking Foot (including quilting bar), Open Toe Foot, Darning Foot (Free-motion foot), Stitch in the Ditch Foot (if you have it) 

  • Marking Pen, Small Permanent Marker for writing 

  • Optional:

    • Sewer’s Aid 

    • Quilters Gloves 

    • Machine extension table 

    • 3 ½”x 12 ½” Creative Grids Trim Up Ruler 

  • * Basic Sewing Supplies

  •  Press and layer fabric & batting
